“While the presidential candidates are out stumping for votes, celebrities are joining Lifetime Networks’ Every Woman Counts campaign, now in its fifth presidential election cycle. Kicking off this month and airing on the #1 and #2 television networks for women — Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) — and on myLifetime.com through Election Day, celebrities are using their voices to encourage women to vote and to draw attention to issues of significance to women that are often lost in the frenzy of horserace campaign coverage.
Queen Latifah inaugurated the campaign by recording spots during her “The Trav’lin’ Light” concert tour asking women across the country to complete the sentence, “If I Were President, I would …” Now celebrities are getting a turn to answer the question, and Halle Berry, Mary J. Blige, Nikki Blonsky, Andrea Bowen, Yaya DaCosta, Fran Drescher, Jodie Foster, Daisy Fuentes, Chelsea Handler, Rachael Harris, Mary Hart, Angela Kinsey, Patti LaBelle, Ricki Lake, Joanna Levesque, Kelly Lynch, Monet Mazur, Reba McEntire, Alyssa Milano, Mya, Holly Robinson Peete, Elizabeth Pena, Annie Potts, Emmy Rossum, Molly Shannon, Michelle Trachtenberg, and the cast of Lifetime’s hit drama “Army Wives” (Catherine Bell, Brigid Brannagh, Wendy Davis, Kim Delaney and Sally Pressman) have taped PSAs urging women to speak out and vote.”
